I still HAVE all my Yugioh Cards, and keep them up to date Restriction and combo wise.
If you were ever into Yugioh online (like the forums and such) you undoubtedly know me by some other name because I was pretty into being a Knowledge Expert for the game, could come to me with any question about the legality of combos or how cards work.
As for unbeatable combos - Dont exist really. Yata was only effective if you cut their hand off before locking it up. This was mostly done by either waiting it out and making the opponent deplete his own cards, or by the comboing of cards.
Only real combos that are quick and hard to beat are always nerfed with the newed ban/restriction list.
I kept a deck I made when lab. of nightmares came out pretty much intact all the way til after Chaos came out, and it still placed high in tournaments, even netting top 35 (outta almost 200 people) in the state competition that year. proved that you don't need to change decks with whats popular at the time to still win.
It was a Fiend deck. Dismantled later just for some fun with other deck ideas.
Now that the top decks (basically the FoTm for Yugioh) is basically all Warrior and/or Phoenix controlled, some of the older types get new strength again.

I used to play Elf Burn, A White Control Deck, A Green and Black Zombie Deck, A Sliver Deck, Blue Control and various other decks. I stopped playing after High School, became a collector by letting my cards collect dust in my closet. It was fun when I was younger, with nothing better to do since I didnt own a computer.

You're thinking of Royal Assassin. It always looks so cool, but there are SO many ways to take down a 1/1 creature that he really isn't as powerful as people think. Of course it's also one of those cards that a lot of casual players think they HAVE to have... so I wouldn't feel bad selling them one.

Im sad, they use to host yu-gi-oh tournaments around here on Sundays and it was worth the trip just to hear the super geeky kids ask for a trade, I'm a pretty big geek but these guys were hilarious. However they stoped having the tournaments and they also shut down collectors den which is a really bummer. Some kids use to play warhammer there every Friday, poor guys now what will they do... what will they do?

Ya stopped playing yugioh after middle school, it died down in high school. I have a bunch of cards need to sell them. I feel bad for collecting so many damn cards, I mean, poor trees.

I've been playing MTG on and off since Unlimited/Arabians. My card sets easily run into the 5 figure range, all mint/near-mint...

Not True. 1 word: Shaharazad.
And staying on topic: I'm an off and on Magic player. I've played since Revised (3rd Edition) came out. I ususally make appearances at Friday Night Magic Tournaments with some form of Mono-Black Control. I can't stand playing any color but Black. My favorite card of all time is Haunting Echos.
